Never particulaly noticed the yeast doing it when I use hot weather yeast during the summer ( but then again I never really looked for it) but I remember early on in my brewing career when I was unaware of the importance of temperature seeing this 'giant pepsi' effect when the temp of he FV was maybe at about 26C

Checked it again its at 22c its not that high brewed higher than that loads of times before i got my brew fridge, maybe its just the type of yeast it is, just thought id mention it as i have never seen a fermentation like it
 
Some yeasts are just more faster/vigourous fermenters than others. S04 is quite a vigrous and quick one. I've been looking into wyeast 1968 for winter when my brew corner is cooler and from what I've read/seen on youtube it's and absolute beast - goes like a washing machine

I do like a fruity slightly sweeter malty beer, might have to give that one a go
 
Oh im right i remember on this thread it was a Fullers London Porter clone, what a lovely drink that was
 
Other than dry stouts I mostly like malty sweet bitters like London Pride so I thought 1968 would be a good one to start out with seeing as it's supposed to be the Fullers strain

My dark beers are good but I'm still struggling with bitters (getting there though). I made and ESB recenty which is full of fusils. Lesson from that brew - large temperature fluctuations are just as stressfull for the yeast/off flavour forming as high tempertures

The Fullers London Porter recipe is fantastic. You can tweak it about, change the grains a bit, change the hops, change the yeast. Great recipe to work from. Or do straight.

I passed your way last Saturday Steve, took daughter to visit Newcastle Uni. Went up A1, came back A19.

Ive done a few even took the one i brewed with the belgian ale yeast to my local to say this is what ales should taste like, the landlord said nothing he was stunned, done a few clones since but that was the best by far

OMG you past my house on both routes! why didnt you say ????????? i live just past middlesbrough in a small gated village called wynyard, you could have stayed! and tried your ales, GUTTED:mad:
 
It was last minute and had two kids with me, and had six hours driving. I'll come up some time when I finish work.
