    Tasting my latest kit brewed

That's why I haven't used the brew enhancer - they don't seem to say on the label what proportion of DME there is to sugars.:hmm: I might try some more malt from a tin/jar or DME next time if I do the kit again in future. This was a 2 tin kit (3 kg) by the way. Came out at SG 1.053 and FG 1.014.

    Tasting my latest kit brewed

It seems a bit darker than all the other beers I have done. Those were Make your own Yorkshire bitter (from The Range) (1.8 kg kit + 1 kg dextrose), Milestone Lions's Pride, Geordie Yorkshire Bitter (made with medium DME+dextrose), Woodforde's Sundew. The flavour of this seems better than all of...

    Tasting my latest kit brewed

I started a kit just before Christmas - bottled on the 18 Dec. It has only been just over two weeks but tasting very good even now. It was from a Munton's Gold IPA kit. I selected the stronger option they suggest by adding 1 kg of brewing sugar. This time I decided to add some hops (dry hopping)...

    The Best Summer Ale

I did Woodfordes Sundew earlier in the year. I didn't think it was that great though. It was a good beer but not that much flavour and I was hoping for something like a blonde ale but it was really just like a lightly coloured/pale ale with less colour and strength than the other kits I have...

    What did you brew today?

Just doing some bottling tonight. Muntons Gold IPA kit. I have used some dry hops this time. Hopefully it will be about *5.1 %. My strongest beer brewed to date - I added the 1 kg dextrose suggested for the stronger version. Have been sanitising the bottles earlier, and soon getting onto...

Curious about lager. Why do you do it?

i think the Freedom brewery do some pretty good lagers. http://www.freedombrewery.com/our-beers/ The Freedom 4% is a bit weaker and not as good. However I have also tried the Organic Helles, and the East India Pale. I was not as keen on the Organic Helles, but really like the East India Pale...

    Tesco.

Thanks. I was able to get a Northumberland Brown ale kit. Has anyone done this one? I tried having it delivered to a Tesco store to save on delivery. Spent ages waiting once I got there. No one serving at the collection counter for several minutes and then some other shoppers not bothering...

    wilko offers finished

Just went in to Wilko today to buy a replacement hydrometer for the one I managed to break. Once I got through the tills I spotted a stand with some reduced items and saw the Wheat beer kit for £10, which seemed very reasonable. When I went to pay for it, it turned out to be only...

    Hi.

I have partly followed your suggestion to brew it short but to 20 litres. Medium spray malt 500g and dextrose 600g. Almost ready to bottle it now in the next day or two.

    Lakeland reduced prices

Just thought I would mention this in case it is useful to anyone. Woodforde's Sundew and Admirals Reserve kits reduced to 14.99. I only just recently bought the Sundew kit for a higher price elsewhere online, but thought this might be useful to others...

    Hi.

I have a few ideas on what I would like to brew after these. First one to do is Geordie Yorkshire Bitter. I thought I would try a cheaper kit after having done one that I thought would be better - the Lion's Pride with no added sugar. So I found the kit a while ago in Tesco when they had a sale...
