Hey there,
I'm new too have stuck to Coopers so far. First the Sparkling Ale and tonight I'm bottling a Dark Ale. Have a Canadian Lager lined up next.
Good luck with your Aussie lager! :)
Can't stand the stuff myself but my American wife adores it. Would be curious to also know where you got it and how you get on. This could finally convince my other half of he merits of home brewing! :D
Started my brewing my second kit last Tuesday, a Coopers Dark Ale. Added a bag of Muntons Beer Enhancer, readings of 1044 and 22C. Started bubbling away the next day and by the Thursday it went wild, foaming all through the air lock. By Friday it had calmed down a bit.
My question is that...
Hey there! I started myself earlier this month and I'm on my second Coopers (Dark Ale). My first was a Sparkling Ale and it started at 1035 and ended at 1012 (about 3%). Cracked open the first bottles last night and it tasted lovely! I did my first reading after I put yeast in so it might...
Thanks for the advice guys. So it sounds like the instruction on the pack about adding directly to the malt before adding water isn't the best of advice!
I'm on my second brew from a kit now. Both times I've used a Coopers kit and added 1kg of Montons Beerkit Enhancer. However, on both occasions some of the enhancer has turned solid instead of dissolving. Is there a way to avoid this happening? I've followed the instructions about adding it...
Thanks for the reply and advice.

Will leave it (im)patiently for another few days! :)
Started my first brew 6 days ago (Coopers Sparkling Ale). Things generally going okay.
I took my first hydrometer reading a few hours after I added the yeast and it came in at 1035. I now realise I should have taken it just before I added the yeast. Has it made much difference waiting a few...
Originally Cambuslang, although left there as a youngster in the mid-80s.
Off to cheer myself up from watching us in division 3 for another year by checking out your new home strip for next season.....
Thanks for the reply!

I'll pop back to Edina and pick some CO2 up.
Hi Folks,
Just bought myself a starter kit from Edina Home Brew here in Edinburgh and got started yesterday evening. Woke up this morning to the sounds of my Coopers Sparkling Ale fermenting away
Totally new to all of this and already itching to my second kit!
My hydrometer reading...
