Well done on finding your fridge, with the STC you will find that beers will ferment better. You may want to consider fixing plywood shelfs as the FVs will be too heavy for the normal shelfs. Get rid of the door compartments as well. Good luck :thumb:
Best thing since sliced bread, those that say they dont need them would soon change there minds if they used it on a big batch. I rinse each bottle after use to remove any sedimet etc. then store in boxes. When rebottling takes probably 10mins or less to sterlize 40 or so bottles, as for the...
I rinse and sterilize my syphon tube and pick up tube and anything else I can with my bottle rinser. Just place tube over the end a couple of presses and job done
Hi
I have picked up a load of empty wine bottles from my local and they are all single serve size 25cl and 187ml.
There is a mix of Chenet bottles and standard bottles that seem to have a slightly smaller top. Has anyone any idea where I can get screw tops for these?
Thanks every one
If you are going down the freezer/fridge fermentor route, if you choose a chest freezer it will pay you to put a timber rim around it (I used 4" x 1") to lift the lid higher so that you can put DJs with bubblers on the shelf. Dead easy to do, 4 lengths of timber screwed to a rectangle same size...
There are a few ways to keep your FV warm, cheapest probably is to sit it in a tray of warm water with a fish tank heater to maintain temperature, then you have the wrap around brew belt or get an electric blanket and sit / wrap in that or the way I do it now is to have a fermenting freezer...
Hi
Bought a Sadlers Reserve kit from www.Cre8wines.com They have space within Woodrow Hardwood Flooring shop on the Old Yorke Road, Wandsworth, London. They only stock Sadlers products or Microwinery products but then again have only just started trading, worth a look as these are terrific kits...
Hi Wer
Won't do any harm leaving it in the FV for another week or so as this will help clear it a bit more resulting in less sediment in the PB. Don't forget your sugar for conditioning when transferring to PB. This will create its own CO2 to help keep the beer. Once in the PB you do not want...
I must be missing something. When I made my fermenter freezer, I just wired the STC to the mains, the freezer to the STC and the heater tube to the STC. Set the temp range I require and it then heats up, then cools down as it needs to. Nothing removed from the freezer. When ever i go and check...
Point taken narmour! I have made this kit and it turned out really good and was the red that converted my wife to drink and enjoy red wine. As stated in a previous post it is not a deep red and takes a while to ferment out, but did not have any problems with it at all. Have made a Kenridge...
