My STC build pictured above costs ã15.43 for everything you see in the pic. The InkBird looks like a good product which is well designed but at twice the price (using the link above). IMO if you have the skills/tools to do it yourself it's not worth the extra cost.
Hey Chippy. Just to be clear, 1 tsp of yeast (instead of the super yeast) and 1tsp of the nutrient as per the instructions in the first post or am I creating my own super yeast with 1 tsp & 1tsp and then adding more nutrient later as well?

So I went to my local HB shop to get some of the Youngs Super Wine Yeast but they don't stock it. The lady wasn't sure what made it so super but gave me these instead.
Will this work OK or do I need to get the Youngs stuff?

I used a STC-1000 a few years ago and created the housing etc for it. Works very well.
One tip I would give if you are going to use the tube heater route is the fridge has a little hole inside where any waste water is channeled to a little tray underneath. You'll find the cable from the tube...
I've opened it up this morning and there is the thick spongy build up on the top. It's that hard it doesn't even break when I press it. It just folds in half.
Work commitments. I've changed jobs twice and had quite a massive period of training for both roles so not had the time to do the brewing and spend time with the family as well. Plus the shed where it is got a right mess and has only just been sorted out.
