Fruit Beers - Adding fruit to the FV

I tried the Brewferm kit a couple of years ago, barely raised a smile from the missus, her response being something like "a hint of being in the fridge where a raspberry might once have been"... but I'm wondering about trying again and adding Lowicz to boost the flavour a bit? I'm more than...

    Essex Tap Water

I'm in the same area and I kit brew, but I gave up using tap water years ago as it's so hard. I use Asda spring water which is about a quid for 5 litres.

    Yup, as above! :thumb:

    Priming sugar, a few questions.

That makes a lot of sense, can't see any reason why it wouldn't work... I've batch primed regularly but of late, things have been somewhat chaotic and I've found various brewing buckets being used to store Lego or other such inconvenient non brewing items, so have primed bottles the...

    few Turbo Cider questions

First things first... you will need an airlock... or a big space at the top of the bottle. Even with an airlock in place on a dj I had one brew that decorated the ceiling! You can let it sit in the big bottle to age, I usually let it condition for a couple of weeks after the end of...

    Has my brew got stuck?

I'd say it wasn't stuck, rather had finished... I've had brews finish up there and not had an issue, as long as the OG was higher, you can see exactly from what hoptoit said, that it should be OK. So yes, you can keg / bottle or whatever else you had planned. :)

    Bottling Nog what primer?

Not done a Nog, but did Nelson's Revenge with plain old granulated, worked a treat, still one of my most popular brews...:thumb:

    My first supermarket juice cider?

I'm sure that'll work. I've made various ciders from supermarket juice, I keep a stock of cider yeast sachets in, in case I see juices on offer... the best that I did was a demijohn of cheap Lidl apple juice, to which I added a generous portion of chopped ginger root. A really tangy apple...

    Priming sugar, a few questions.

1/2 teaspoon sugar per bottle is fine, in my experience; not too gassy but enough. The added bonus of dropping to a second FV before you bottle is that it helps to clear the beer. I normally drop into a second FV a few days before bottling; I always get a significant extra layer of sediment...

    V high abv kit brewing

I made one a couple of years ago using a Coopers kit as base and added some dark muscovado sugar and black treacle on top of the dark spray malt, brewed it a little short and got a specialist yeast for higher alcohol... think it was Safbrew T-58 which tolerates higher alcohol levels. I let it...

Best Beer Kits you have brewed

In no particular order my best brews to date have almost certainly been as follows... Brupaks Almonbury Old Ale - mistaken in tastings for an all grain brew Coopers Sparkling Ale - even a lager drinker said he'd buy it if it was on tap Woodforde's Nelson's Revenge - just a really well...
