    Barrel conditioning before bottling

Hi all, Am just waiting for my sixth AG brew to finish fermenting, all of which come from Graham Wheeler's book. I have been following his advice that all beer destined for bottles should be barrel (king keg) conditioned first. Anybody out there do this? If so, do you prime in the barrel and...

    Leaky Tap

Dear all, Newbie help required again. :wha: Have coopers stout in a barrel, all going well, apart from the fact that the tap leaks a little. The leak is coming from the tap end, the seal with the barrel itself is fine. A small drip every so often, not leaking loads, but it is a bit irritating...

    Have I blown it?

Hi all, Am very new to this. A couple of weeks ago put Wherry in a keg. Brewing buddy came round this weekend so thought we'd have a cheeky monitoring taste, was no real pressure as I turned on the tap and it slowed to a trickle after only half a small glass. Didn't seem to be any real pressure...

    secondary fermentation - Wherry

Hi all, Just approaching two weeks fermenting my first brew, a wherry. Just to clarify the points on this thread, the one week cold after two weeks fermenting, is that in the FV or keg and then bottle. Sorry for newbie interruption to the discussion. Thanks Jez

    Newbie questions for clarification

Thanks for all the advice. Have now snapped lid on - fermentation seems very slow at the mo, but bubbles still on surface. It's been in there a week today so will leave a couple more days before checking the gravity. If I have any more issues I'll be back in touch! Thanks again :thumb:

Tried to buy some patience at the homebrew shop, but apparently they don't sell any!! Will have to make do with cleaning the barrel in preparation. Thanks again Jez

    Newbie questions for clarification

Hi all, Probably should spend more time reading and searching to find the answers but there seems to be several ways to do this! Have got Woodforde's wherry fermenting nicely in the spare room (in a FV!!). I don't have an airlock and have followed the advice from homebrew shop, just resting the...

Hello there. After a tour of 'Sunny Republic' brewery in Winterbourne Kingston (Dorset) on Saturday I've finally decided to have another go at homebrewing. Am in the processing of digging out all the old kit and reacquainting it with some bleach! Will start with a kit this weekend and see how we...
