Guys after some advice. I currently have biab European lager in the primary fv that has had 4 days diacetyl rest at 16 deg cel. I am going to bottle it but don't know whether I should now crash cool it for a couple days and then transfer it to my bottling bucket before bottling and carbonating...

I know its hard but once it's bottled give it at least another 4-6 weeks maturing before drinking. You won't believe the difference.
I brew ag and drinking that to young also has a yeasty taste. But give it a few weeks to mature and it's a totally different beer.:thumb:
Would anyone be able to give me an idea of what size initial starter made from a slant would give approx the same amount of yeast as a whitelabs or wyeast pack ?

With biab you put the full amount of liquor in the pot as you mash and boil in the one pot.
You can hold a little water back if you want to do a sparge on the bag to get the last remaining sugar out the grain but I've never found it necessary and always achieve the fg or higher.

I've started to maximise my liquid yeast and prior to using a white lab vial I culture several slants from it to give me further cultures.
Prior to this I used to use mr malty starter calculator which would give the stepped starter sizes to make from a vial to ensure correct pitching rates...

Tcp taste is generally cause by either not de chlorinating the water from the beginning with a campden tablet or failing to rinse the fv of chlorine based cleaner fully.
I would suggest another deep clean with oxi or similar and a thorough rinse before a good rinse in starsan prior to your next...

Followed the recipe for the European lager in Greg Hughes book and put it through the bibacus to down size it from 23 ltrs to 20 ltrs for a cornie.

This morning I'm finally doing my first Biab and have worked out my water treatment for 35ltrs of total water with an alkalinity of 225ppm.
I plan on treating my total water with half a campden tablet to get rid of the chlorine and then Brupak CRS to bring the Alkalinity...
