When are brews ready to drink?

I brew AG nowadays. 7-10 days in the fermenter, 2-3 days in the keg and its good enough to drink for me. I do find that if i have a keg on the go for a few weeks the taste will develop and change, the last pint i draw is often quite different to the first.

    AG#5 Fuller's London Porter

Had a sneaky taste of my Fullers London Porter brew today and its delicious even if i say so myself. Its velvet smooth with a lovely chocolatey malty flavour. I was taken by surprise tbh as its still very young. This is going to be just the job over the Xmas period while i'm watching the darts...

    AG#5 Fuller's London Porter

Thanks buddy, i might just give that ago on Sunday. I have all the ingredients for it apart from the yeast but hopefully S04 would be a decent alternative. :thumb:

    First All Grain Brew

Hi mate, you need to take into account the deadspace in your boiler and mashtun. Brewstew explains it all better than i can in the following link. Its a great guide for beginner AG brewers, i found it a great help. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=493

    First ever Brew :-)

Well done on your first brew, i started off with a Coopers lager kit too, in fact i tried 4-5 of their kits before moving on, not a bad beer at all. Hope it turns out well for you, you may just about get it conditioned enough for Christmas, just.

    AG#5 Fuller's London Porter

Hi all. I'm going to be getting AG#5 underway on Saturday, and possibly AG#6 on Sunday if things go to plan. For AG#5 i am going to make a darker beer, i think i'm going to give GW's version of Fuller's London Porter a go. I'm not sure if i can post the recipe here from his book due to...

Woodfords wherry..to bottle or to keg?

I prefer all my bitters kegged, a much better mouthfeel imo. I save my bottles for lagers, cervezas etc.

    AG#4 Old Speckled Hen Clone

Yeah, the real thing is not my favourite beer by any means, but the recipe matched the ingredients i have at hand so i thought i'd give it a go. Hoping i'm pleasantly surprised by the AG home version. :)

    New Brew

Hi mate, have you tried Coopers kits? there a decent brew, or Woodfordes kits? i recommend their Wherry kit. I f you dont have a local homebrew shop nearby i know you can get both of the above from Tesco Direct.

    AG#4 Old Speckled Hen Clone

Hi guys, Today i'm going to be trying to brew Graham Wheelers version of Old Speckled Hen. I've made a few slight grain and hop weight alterations to the recipe to get it in line with Brewmate as the ABV & EBU were slightly off. Look forward to seeing how it turns out. :)

    AG#3 Challenger Bitter

Here's how it went, Grain shot. The mash An obligatory beer while i wait. The sparge. Nice copper/bronze looking sample. The boil. First hop addition. Chilling the wort. I forgot to take a photo of the yeast starter but oh well. I hit my volume target and my OG target spot on...

Mikey G's First Brew (Irish Stout) w/ Pics

Congrats on your first brew mate, i started out with a coopers kit too, as a rule i generally use 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar if i'm bottle priming a bitter or stout and 1 teaspoon of sugar if its a lager for extra fizz. Best of luck progressing to AG, i recently started AG brewing and although its...
