    Sorry should have put up the rest of the details. It came out at 6.5% my method was: 7L Mash @68 degrees, finished mash @ 66 9L Sparge 5g Cascade at 60 mins 5g Citra at 30 5g Cascade at 7 2.5g Citra at 0 mins 2.5g Citra at 70 degrees Sg1.060 Topped up with 1L after pitching Final Sg1.010

    Unfortunately yes, prob around 2.6% at a guess if it finishes around 1.010. Should still taste alright I would think!

    Thanks for the replies. Next time I’ll make sure I measure Sg pre boil and also work out my boil off rates.

    Ah ok, so take a hydrometer reading pre boil (temp adjust) then decide if it’s going to need a top up? Although doesn’t it become more concentrated after the boil so surely this still won’t give you a final Sg? Or am I missing something?! Sorry newbie questions!

    Ah excellent I’ll have a look. Thanks. Yeah that’s true, don’t want to dilute it too much! Would the best way to deal with this in future brews is to add an extra litre or two at the mash stage?

    Forgot to ask, I need to order the yeast. I’ve had a look and a lot of shops charge £5+ for delivery. Any recommendations where I can get if from please without it costing 8 quid?!

    Just checked the Sg again. It’s definitely got stuck at 1.018. Think I may have to go down the route of adding some extra yeast as suggested as it’s just to sweet at the moment.

    Right, so I’ve just checked the Sg after 1 week. It’s only down to 1.018 unfortunately. There’s some sweetness to it when I tasted it. Is it worth adding some sugar or a different yeast to try and drop the Sg down a little more? Thanks
