Trying to get my head around the matter of water treatment. As always, found THBF very useful and informative.
I have found my local water report, and I have the figures for everything required on THBF water calculator but not sure about alkalinity. There's nothing in the readings for...
Horsforth to be precise. About 5 miles North of Leeds. Our 'Hop Shack' https://www.thehopshack.co.uk decided to get something going with an invite to homebrewers in the area. Last Thursday was the first meet up and there was a good dozen or so of us who turned up. All different levels of...
I know there are numerous threads already but just looking for advice.
I've always used dry yeast till now, just had a crack at another NEIPA using a Yeast Bay Vermont ale liquid yeast. So I should have a go at harvesting this I reckon, right? Never done so before nor used a starter. Couple...
Most HB shops sell the hop socks (nylon bags) for dry hopping. A sanitized weight of some description and all problems solved. Whatever hop styles you use you will get the desires affect and no mess to syphon.
The original batch is lovely, just a little lower in abv. The coconut version is a nice addition and other than the oil making the head disappear is really tasty. The ones with the hazelnut liqueur is a split decision. Very boozy but quite nice in my opinion. Other half thinks too much booze.
I've had such beers lately and recipes I've found do seem to call for the oats ?!
I'm not putting a big bitterness charge on at the beginning. Mostly hopping at the very tail end and after 'flameout'. Then yes dry hopping in 2 stages when fermentation is ongoing but slowing a bit and then...
Last one I made didn't really fit the bill for what I wanted. A hazy, juicy NEIPA style. I've had a few email replies from a couple of established brewers in regard to the fermentables to use. Can anyone who has better knowledge and experience give comment on the grain bill below. Not sure if...
I haven't got the desired abv this time around but glad it's lower rather than higher!
I've split the batch into 3. Bottled approx 5 litres as is, 5 litres with a homemade hazelnut liqueur into it, and got the remainder still sat with a load of toasted coconut in and some vanilla .
Will bottle...
My couple of local home brew stores don't offer much in the way of choice. I'm looking to experiment with the likes of Wyeast - London Ale III 1318. Does anyone know where best to order from without it costing an arm and a leg?
Cheers
Sure thing. Will wait on the outcome of mine though. Last time i made it it was one of the best I've done so far. Still having ups and downs with brews though. Fingers crossed!
