    Yeast isn't reacting quite right

@ExcessPixels , saying that, I would be a bit p’d off if I had a fermentation screw up and had to bin it, but in future I probably won’t stress so much about adding yeast nutrient unless the gravity readings stall too high for longer. I think I have a room with almost optimum conditions for...

    Yeast isn't reacting quite right

There's no stress involved, and I'm not too bothered about the kit advice, compared to the day job it's simple geeky fun. I enjoy getting into things, l even have a spread sheet going with dates, numbers for gravity and temps, with observation notes. Whilst I am in no rush, equally, I like the...

    Yeast isn't reacting quite right

I did mix it in gently into the top, I'm not sure if that's wise or not, and I had checked the seals before doing it, but yes, it was a little bit more about gut instinct rather than science; I'll ponder further.

    Yeast isn't reacting quite right

Fair point, I believe the cider needed it, but I am not sure the beers did, although they both did appear to slow right up to the point of no airlock activity around the 3/4 brewed gravity mark, but both picked up and started gurgling through the airlock again after a single teaspoon of the...

    Greetings from Finland!

Hello, Finland is a great place. Reading your comments has made me think my next brew should be something Christmasy.

    Yeast isn't reacting quite right

Interesting thread, I am a relative newb but am on my third successful brew and this subject was something I pondered a lot over the last few months. I became obsessed with the fermentation activity early on with my first brew (cider from our apple trees), as it was a seat of the pants...

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

Strangely, my King Keg is at the dead centre line already, how did that happen? :beer1:

Cheers! Let's see if I can get a pic to work... daughter did some labels for gift bottles, I know, too cheesy, but hey, why not! :D

    It's been a while...

Cheers, it's the silver lining of lock down and time at home. Our place is a converted cart shed and the outbuildings to what was once The Green Dragon Cider House (who knows when, as it was vaguely written in the local historian's newsletter a while back) - usually the cider apples end up in...

    It's been a while...

...well, erm, it's a whopping 35 years since I brewed some beer as a teenager with my old man. I can only vaguely recall the memories, but I still had an old beer sphere from back then, so with a bumper crop of apples in the garden, plus access to a marcerator and press on a relative's farm...

How good is a Woodforde Wherry?

I transferred one into a PB last Thursday, it's my first beer brew since 1985! I have done cider with apples out the garden this year also, so thought why not give the Wherry a go too. Looking forward to it, although the wait is already niggling me, I've also bought a Cwtch to do next.
