Have you thought about setting up a HERMS system then you’ll not need any heat source for the mash tun. Not sure what you have now in regards to HLT and boil kettle etc but it’s an idea worth looking at.

pitching rate is 1 million cells per milliliter of wort per degree Plato. Cells to pitch = (1 million) x (milliliters of wort) x (degrees Plato of the wort) I use slightly lower rates for ales (0.75 million) hope this helps.

I sent off my tap water and filtered tap water for a professional brewing liquor report and please take a read as you’ll find there’s a lot taken out in filtered water.
