    Amarillo extract

Sorry to hear you stuff has not arrived yet. It is a bummer having to wait when you are ready to go. This recipe was at the tip of my fingers because I am hoping to brew it tomorrow. I've brewed this one before and it is quite nice. The hop aroma and flavor are wonderful. I need to go the...

    Amarillo extract

Here is a recipe I have using malt extract, and crystal malt. I'm afraid this is for 5 U.S. gallons (18.9 liters): The top summary information gives the estimated values with the corresponding BJCP ranges for that style given in parentheses. Hopzilla IPA 14-B American IPA Original Gravity...

Probably A Stupid Question re: maintaining temps

It's funny I thought about that after posting but did bother changing it. I guess I did not think of it initially because I myself do not have a spray bottle for homebrewing. I will need to get one for just that sort of thing. - Scott

Probably A Stupid Question re: maintaining temps

The valve shouldn't be a problem while you are fermenting the wort. The only problem may arise is when you plan on actually using the value to transfer the beer. At that point you can just add some or your favorite sanitizer to the water bath. Probably a no rinse sanitizer would be best since...

    Oops

The secondary fermenter should still be under positive pressure so it is more difficult for bacteria and wild yeast to get in. I won't say it will be fine because we just don't know. There is a very good chance that is indeed the case though. You are going to have to wait and sample your beer...

    Hops ? pellets or leaf?

Both hop pellets and whole hops are advantages and disadvantages. Hop pellets are compact and take up less storage space. Being finely ground they once in the wort they have a great deal more surface area than whole hops to interact with the wort during the boil. Generally speaking, with all...

    Pub Dog

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=1w4FJCcZTKU&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D1w4FJCcZTKU This dog kind of reminds me of Barnaby, our Old English Sheepdog. Okay, Barnaby is a bit less...subtle than the pub dog. At any rate, enjoy! - Scott

    Rauchbier

I've only used peat smoked malt and that was quite smoky. One thing to keep in mind is that the hasher notes in smoked beers tend to mellow out a bit with some aging. - Scott

Omega Hops - Anyone Used Them??

I went looking online for information about Omega hops and found there to be very little out there. The Homebrew Forum actually discussed Omega hops last November. See http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32305 for a summary of what information is out there. - Scott

    Rauchbier

Are you sure about the amount of Rauch malt in that recipe? That would produce one seriously smoky beer. Generally you don't use more than about a pound or so (0.45 kg). - Scott
