So put in secondary today. At day 5 I dry hopped with 40g Crystal. FG was 1.023 which is because I mashed at 70c. Dont ask me why I mashed so high ha. Will do low end mash next and then a mid-range one.
Anyway, smells and tastes great but looks like soup still. I added gelatine and really hopd...
Yeah cooling wort is a treat. Just pop the bucket out in the snow  and the other plus side, it was only a kit which had gone sour anyway. My first AG however won't be stored out there! Live and learn..
So I made an English Bitter Kit a while back and it went sour. I bottled and thought I just forget about it for a while as it tasted awful but I'm determined to drink everything I brew..
I put it in the basement in our wooden old farmhouse. Last night we had -18C and tonight I thought...
Well I didnt know it was an APA someone onhere said so in my thread  just used Citra and Crystal as I fancy them from a brew I had here when i stumbled across 2 Scottish blokes and their Swiss micro brewery on our industrial estate.
Well the boiler takes 29L but i can only really fit in 25ish to allow a good rolling boil. I think my volumes were a bit off too as i was worried the grain volume would make it overflow but it was actually no problem to stir in. However you are right nothing wrong with lower volume brews...
Hi and good luck with your brewing. I have a couple of apple trees here too and fancy a go at pressing them next year. Did your cider turn out well?
Happy New Year!
Have you looked into better strips? Like the 4 coloured ones give you a pretty accurate reading. I'm not sure you get more accurate with the cheap or mid range pH meters. It would have to be a unit with separate electrode to be more accurate.
