Not brewed in a while as I had a baby in September - just got round to brewing the All Other Pales today.
Seemed to go well. Will post how it turns out. Used US-05 yeast instead of the one listed and Tettnang instead of Santiam hops - couldn't seem to find Santiam and read Tettnang is a...
Confident it's not that - this is across several beers, some of which have been left too long in the FV due to negligence and business. I'm always careful to get the same gravity readings over several days and will leave it longer if in doubt.
I've been brewing for a bit more than 18 months, just over 12 months all grain.
I've got a few beers now that I've kept for a while - I opened up a porter that I've had for a year tonight, and got a couple of bottles of last year's Xmas brew saved up too. I've found that when I open them up...
I'm making some Mince Meat for Xmas - my method says to put it in sterilised jars. Do you think a good wash and a good spray of Star San will do it? If it's good enough for beer, it's good enough for mince, no?
I did - I posted it up here: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=66490
It was a really interesting brew, the raspberry a bit too pronounced maybe. I still have a 750ml bottle of it that Iââ¬â¢m saving for Xmas.
Funnily enough The Kernel came out with a Raspberry stout...
I've just ordered up the ingredients for All Other Pales Pale. After a bit of digging around online I the 2nd batch of Cara Pils in the recipe is mean to be Flaked Oats (someone on Twitter heard this from Mikeller apparently). Hoping to brew next weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.
I've just got his Saison in the FV - Just about the try out my new fishtank heater after a couple of days in there and crank it up slowly to 30C and I wondered, what temperature am I meant to do the 2nd fermentation on? It doesn't say in the book. I've got Champagne yeast for it rather than...
I used them for a recipe from the Mikeller book - a low ABV American Wheat Ale called Drinkin' The Sun. It didn't turn very well - a bad taste that I think is astringency (though it could be sourness). It's drinkable, but not exactly nice. I don't really feel like trying to do it again.
