    Agglomerated Corks

Has anyone ever used these corks before? http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Agglomerated-Wine-Bottle-Corks.jpg I was thinking of giving them a go. I've had trouble with normal corks crumbling and the description says these are extra hard. How long have you aged with them, if at...

    Weissbier has dropped clear

How is the carbonation? I'd have thought 8-12C was a bit chilly for conditioning. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Wheat beers will clear to some extent. When I worked in bars we would store the Hoegaarden/Coopers/Weissbier kegs upside down and flip them the right way up when we...

    Brewing wine kits extra short.

Hi Folks, I have a 30bt Soave kit which will require 3 or 4kg or sugar to get to 12% at full volume. I've seen that lots of folk brew 23L kits to about 20L to add extra body, but has anyone got any experience with just using the contents of the can and adding water up to 10 or 15L, which ever...

Wilko's Zingy Soave Style 1.7kg/30 bottle kit

Hi Folks, I recently picked up one of these kits for 90p (so, by my calculations, roughly 3p per bottle \o/ ) Has anyone made this kit before? if so, what were your impressions? While the thought of 3p bottles of wine is quite appealing, the thought of brewing and storing 30 bottles of **** is...

    Floating sediment.

I have just started making wine recently, although I've brewed beer for over a decade. I had something like you describe floating in a batch of crabapple wine. At first I was afraid it was a bacterial infection, but there was no flavour or aroma taint. It settled out no problem with finings and...

    Is my OG too high?

It was a recipe from a book called "Drink your own garden". I used youngs super wine yeast.

    Is my OG too high?

Hi Folks, Just brewed my first ever batch of wine, Elderberry and blackberry. The starting gravity is startlingly high: 1.111. Should I be worried? Should I water it down now? I checked several times and I checked the calibration on the hydrometer, which was fine. Elderberry and Blackberry...

    Munton's Premium Cellar Shiraz

Intrigued by this thread, I ran down to my local Wilko's today. All they had was their own brand of 6 bottle kits at full price. Their website only mentions their own brand wine kits. Did I totally miss this sale, and have they discontinued the Muntons stock?

    Why top-up with water??

Hi Guys, I'm new to brewing wine. I just wondered why, after racking, people top up the dj with cooled boiled water, rather than fermentables such as apple juice/grape juice. It would seem to me that topping up with water would dilute the brew.

    Hi

Hi Folks, I've been in London for two years. I brewed for 10 years back in Oz and am very excited that I'm in a position to start again. Cheers, Tenorbrew
