planning a DME pilsner tomorrow. No grain involved, going to boil 1kg to aid teh hop additions and cool with my immersion chiller. teh rest of eth dme is going straight in teh fermenter unboiled..

do I need to put 1/4 a protofloc / irish moss in the boil to drop proteins or desnt that apply to extract?

I would imagine not. The boiling is all done in the process of boiling down the mash to get the DME.

I do extract, never used irish moss.

I’ve done a few full extract kits. For the last few minutes of the boil I’ve added a whirlfloc tablet. 23 litre batches. Partial boil. There were grains involved as well as dme. None required for wheat beers.
