    that stupid homebrew taste

Thank You all for the advice. There's a home brew shop ten miles away which I shall go to next week. the kits (except the EDME) came from wilcos. There's no way of telling how they're stored other than they sit on the shelf in whatever temperatures.

    that stupid homebrew taste

Yes. An out of date EDME bitter. too horrible to drink. then a coopers english ale and finally coopers stout. I'ts the yeasty home brew taste I object to. But perhaps the taste is something else and I assume its the yeast. a four month rest in the barrel made no difference. I want a pint that...

    that stupid homebrew taste

Ok thanks. I've never bothered with water treatment and its very hard down here in kent. My last dissapointment was a coopers stout which others have said very good things about. This is only the third kit I've tried and I want to go the full grain mash route. I thought it best to work my way...

I have the same problem. I've tried different yeasts, Malt instead of sugar. It's put me right off using kits. I'm going to try mat extract and hops next.

Hello There. I'm new to this brewing art. Was sitting in the pub drinking and thinking. "nice beer, a bit weak." or "I'm sure I could do better". I used to make beer years ago form boots kits circa 1978 and I remember it was vile. Anyway I'm going to start with kits and work up. Shall watch...

Plastic underfloor pipe for wort cooler?

Hello There. Under floor heating pipe is made from cross linked polythene. This should withstand the temperature and is food safe. My sceptism is the plastic would act like an insulator and not work very efficiently compared to copper. The latest efficient hot water cylinders have "Stranded...

    A decent valve.

Hello Easy Peasie. Thank You I'll bear that in mind. A look at this site has shown Me things like false bottoms. My book says to run the wort into a grain bag suspended between two chairs. (Dave Lines big book of brewing). It may be a bit out of date. Cheers, Hop-head.

    A decent valve.

Hello everybody. I'm making a boiler myself and I wanted to let you know an Idea I've got. The valve I'm going to use is a "Honey valve" this is a gate valve used on vessels that hold Honey (sorry I don't know how to post links). These are gate valves and are available in plastic and...

Using a water butt tap for wilko PB?

Hello all. I checked the tap on my Wilkinsons barrel and the thread is 3/4 British standard pipe thread. Great, I can get fittings from any plumbers merchant to fit.
