    using a bottle of hoegaaden to make a starter ?

    :hmm: Would it be possible to reclaim a yeast from simply buying a bottle of hoegaaden tipping the entire contents into demijohn with some spraymalt and growing it on from there.I ask only because the yeast is held in suspension?

    Not sure where i can pick up sterilising cleaner from my local HB has moved and can work out if wilkinsons or morrisons still sell bruclens also my local chemist has stopped selling betadine i know i can buy on line but is there still shops in the high street thsat still stocks any of the above?

    Death of burco boiler element

    I just cant believe it ,it only feels like 6 yrs ago i replaced the element :( and now its died although strangely not during a brew :wha: i checked all the wiring and the plug and the wall socket and the circuit breaker but just left with the element being the culprit,anyway ordered one off...

    Ok i have only tried caramelising twice and wonder if i am doing it right ,i usually aim for 23-25 litre brew lenghts and i take the first runnings filling up a creuset saucepan 3/4 full which i think is about 3 litres i then boil this down to about half its original volume i also leave the lid...
