    Kit Yeast

Thanks for the recommendation Steve. Hopefully you meant m31 yeast, which Malt Miller has and I've ordered.

    Kit Yeast

Just found a couple of Brewferm Tripple kits at the back of my cupboard, but they have a bbe of June. Will the included yeast still be ok or should I get some fresh yeast? If I get something fresh, what would be the recommendation? Many thanks

    Need a new FV. Recommendations?

I love my Coopers FV, with the removable Krausen ring, if only they sold them separately. The bottling wand that comes with it though is useless as it isn't spring-loaded and keeps dripping once removed from a bottle.

    Position of temperature probe

Third law of thermodynamics doesn't come into play until close to absolute zero. By then, I doubt I would be worried about the temp of my wort 😄

    Position of temperature probe

You have to be sure of what the question is i.e. what is it that you are trying to measure. If you want the wort to be at a specific temp then you need to measure by dangling the probe into the wort. A safer method I use is to have the probe against the side of my FV and covered from the...

    Munton's Gold Midas Touch Review

Started this off on 8th November. SG of 1058 Settled into the fridge at a steady 20' 10 days on, it's down to 1016 but looks like a bucket of mud. Still got movement in there. I'll leave it for another week yet then check it again

    whos brewing what for crimbo?

Not much, I've only just started being. Definitely got 14 bottles of Brewferm Tripel, and kegged 40l of Donner & Blitzed. Hope to be better stocked next year, just need to get a good cycle going

    Overprimed Keg

I've loosened the lid off and I'll let it sit for a couple of weeks then re-prime (properly!). Thanks for the suggestion.

    Overprimed Keg

Just realised that I've put far too much priming sugar in my keg that I filled yesterday. It's a Christmas ale, but I've put enough sugar in for lager. Can I just vent it after a few days to reduce it down or is there a better way of fixing this?

    Milestone Donner & Blitzed Review

Started this one on 1st October. OG 1044 Temp has been around 20' but went away for a few days and it's dropped to 17' in my absence. Checked gravity - now at 1018. Still got bubbles on the surface Put the heater on and it's back up to 20'. I've given it a gentle stir. I'll give it...

    Newbie question - secondary fermentation

Bit of a newbie question I suspect, but I can't find an answer. I've had a Brewferm Tripel on the go for 2 weeks in my main fv, instructions suggest moving it into a secondary after 10 days. I assume this is so that there is still enough activity for it to build a good co2 layer whilst in...

    Coopers Lager

I did this as my first expedition into homebrew too. Waited two weeks in the FV before bottling (no movement on FG for 4 days), that was last Tuesday. Bottles are crystal clear now with a little sediment in the bottom. Thought I would try one of them just to see what it was like last night...

    Newbie here

I wouldn't worry too much about an airlock. Just seems to give you an idea of progress whilst keeping the air out. Just as effective is leaving the lid on loosely for 2 weeks before even thinking about touching it. No peeking! Lol The co2 will drive the air out through the loose lid and as...
