    Geterbrewed Christmas day brew

i usually ferment at 21c - it is the lowest most aquarium heaters go to. I don't get off flavors using using SA04 I find that my beers usually go off like that with massive Krausen and then drop back to normal after a day, I think it may be a side effect of using the aquarium heater at 21-22c

    Hi from Cambridge

Hi Ian, (if you need local advice give me a yell)(im in Ely) Kit wise I'v moved on to all grain most of the time but I have found that he better brew kits work well, in particular the bandit brew (think desperado larger but better. A lot of my mates constantly request that one)

Ginger, spice and all things nice

I simply grated the fresh ginger and used powdered cinnamon.

Twin-lever cappers and different bottle types.

only bottles I have had problems with so far are Shephard neame bottles ( ie spitfire)- I think they are more like a 29mm top as to the usual 26mm

    Carlsberg Citrus (dont judge me...)

Wilko pilsner then add juice from 10-15 limes (unless you can get a concentrate) after its finished fermenting. I recently did this with a a kit that I was given but with lemon - its turned in to a firm favorite with a couple of my friends

I have had the paper slip slightly on an old hydrometer ( while shaking it to try and get it back I dropped it).

Help - hopping at turn off ??

Im fairly new to AG myself but I think they are added exactly as you said at "flame out" or "at end of boil", then I believe that most people chill in the boiler (i know I do), or they are left to "steep" for a while before chilling (depending on how quickly you chill). Once chilled, then...

    Custom stainless fermenter heating?

a 150w Aquarium heater with built in thermostat would work no problems. 25w heaters are absolutely fine for a normal 23-25l bucket I tend to trust the JBL ones - both for my beer and my fish - they offer a very good compromise on being good quality but not the most expensive...

How many gallons of homebrewed beer in 2014?

5g wilko golden ale kit 5g geordie bitter kit 5g Bandit brew kit Not putting on here my lemon / lime "oooch" so just the 15 so far for me 2156.6

Looking for a beer kit that tastes abit like!

Would agree with the above that the wilko golden ale kit with some citra hops should give you something very drinkable with a nice citrus finish. The only thing I found with the wilko golden ale kit is that it does need a little something extra to give it a little more flavour.

how about making ginger beer from scratch?? Im doing two different ones at the moment, one with a hit of citrus and one with a cinnamon and nutmeg hint to it. Basically it simply works out to be ginger root - water - sugar & yeast. many different ways of doing it but a quick google will...
