    HBC Extract Porter

UPDATE Well I finally got around to bottling. It had finished fermenting last week and was down to 1.010. But, we have had family staying so had to wait a bit longer before bottling. 1.010 is the lowest i have gotten any of my brews so far. So, with the priming sugar (which i used golden...

    Coopers, Canadian Blonde Review

I've made this a month ago, added brew enhancer. Nice and clear, strong and a good head, but sadly lacking in flavour. Wished i'd added hops.

    HBC Extract Porter

I certainly will!!! It smelled absolutely gorgeous when brewing it, malted biscuits, and toast sprang to mind. It's bubbling away really well now, can't wait to give it a go. 1.30am was a bit OTT, i'll know better next time. I think i'll do a few more of these extract kits though, then move...

    HBC Extract Porter

Well, first off a big thank you to the site and the Home Brew Company, as i won this kit in the recent competition. This is the first Extract brew that i have done so i was a little unsure of what to expect. As others have mentioned on opening the box, the first thing to note was that the...

    Wherry Experiment.

I did mine slightly short at 21 Litres, brew enhancer and a goldings hop tea bag. I have to say i'm proper chuffed with the outcome. i might have to stock up on a few wherry kits whilst Tesco has them on for £16ish. Bargain!!!

    Wherry Experiment.

Hi Dave, I have to agree it smells and tastes fantastic. This really has the makings of a great beer. The best i've made so far. Although, i really liked the Woodfords Admirals reserve and the Coopers Stout (with additions!!), this one seems to be a winner. :thumb:

    Wherry Experiment.

Well tonight's the night. Brew down to 10.10 so is going to be about 7.5%. Its a completely different animal to a wherry. It smells fantastic and tastes really really good even straight out of the fermenter. Far better than the original wherry as far as i'm concerned, Its still a bit cloudy...

    Wherry Experiment.

Cheers Andy, I've ordered a few hop tea bags, one of which is 20g of Goldings. So i will make a tea and chuck it in. This brewing malarkey is all about experimenting, and finding out what is good and bad for you. The brew is slowly bubbling away in the corner of the kitchen. Once its finished...

    Wherry Experiment.

Well tonight i thought i'd give something different a go. I'd just bottled up a Woodfordes Admirals reserve and thought about what to do next. I hunted through my bits and bobs and found a wherry kit, a kilo of beer enhancer and a packet of Gervin GV12 yeast. So at Sg 1060 its going to a bit...

    Coopers Original Stout Review

Fantastic!! I will leave it alone until the 10th then bottle it, 2 weeks in the warm (24th) then into the beer fridge for a week. Then it's a Happy New Year

Yeast starters and super fast fermentation

Hi, I've just had a similar thing. I'm brewing a Coopers stout kit. I added 1kg of beer enhancer, a tin of treacle and 300g of golden sugar. Started at 1.052 within 3 1/2 days it's down to 1.010!!! I used the kit yeast but also added reactivated yeast from a couple of bottle of Coopers pale ale...

It said in the instructions that the optimum temp is 21-27 degrees. I've moved it into the garage and it is now sat at 22 and bubbling away quite nicely!! It smells fantastic too!!
