    crust on top of brew after fermentation

    I have just racked an AG IPA.... usual suspects with US-05 fermentation as per, down to 1010.. spot on taste & smell great only oddity is it looked like the trub (i guess) had risen and was sitting on top on the brew... looked like a holey cheese, soft but stiffer than krausen any...

    Brew weekend

    Well today was supposed to be a brewday but ended up having open wallet surgery at Ikea...... plan for the weekend: tomorrow Clibits Half Hearted ale.... just loving it too much to run out :mrgreen: sunday hopefully a Black sabbath, if the mauribrew arrives, i might just do it with US05...

    urgent advice needed

    well i went for a little shop today and while i was out about 40kg of grain and a nearly kilo of hops appeared in the boot of my car......:whistle: anyway the advice i need is... how do i get it into the shed without the wife noticing???:mrgreen:

    AG question regarding foam

    I assume the foam generated at the start of a boil is protein? is there any downside to skimming it off rather than have it end up in the trub? or is there stuff in there we need to have once it has been broken down?

    Been Shopping

    Well it was only when i started brewing again that I regretted having an induction hob, because finding a big pan that does not cost more than a house is quite difficult it seems.... found this last week and arrived today... only 15l but enough for partial mash and Clibits gallon brews...

    "modern" air traps

    so is it me or are these "modern" style air traps rubbish? started a couple of DJ's off a couple of days ago, and have to refill the things twice a day as they just bubble over and run dry...:doh: going back to old school bubble traps
