    Batch priming question

Graz thanks for that. I was thinking about doing that as I didn't want to introduce too much oxygen while mixing Cheers

    Batch priming question

This may be a daft question but can you batch prime with regular tate and lyle or silver spoon sugar?

    Bourbon stout

I'm thinking about making a bourbon stout. Can anyone give me some pointers or should I just make a razorback IPA.

    Young's American Mocha Porter

I'm going to try a Coopers Stout soon as well and I see that a lot of people put treacle in it as well as the Coopers brew enhancer. Are you doing it straight or are you using any addtions.

    Young's American Mocha Porter

I've just bought this kit and only looked what it contains. There doesn't seem to be too much priming sugar. Does the porter end up well carbonated with the sugar provided?

    Brew tastes bitter

Sounds good! Mine looks like it's coming to the end of fermentation but I'll wait until Friday to check a sample with a view to bottling over the weekend. Trying to decide if I'm doing a Coopers stout, a Youngs porter or Youngs New World Saison next.

    Brew tastes bitter

Mick I would be careful of putting it up too high because you'll just be heating the top of the FV at that level. Try the timer switch thing and see if it helps

    Brew tastes bitter

To update this thread the "bitter" taste was in fact a sour taste. I think that with the coopers FV and my lack of patience I've let too much air in and I spoiled the brew. School boy error. I'm doing a Coopers Heritage Lager in a new fermentation bucket with an airlock which is currently...

    Carbonation not working

Quick update on this. Opened a bottle today and carbonation much better. Still doesn't taste amazing so it's in the garage for a few months. I'm going to do a Coopers Heritage Lager next. Any advice on hopping or if to use the Coopers malt or some other malt?

    Carbonation not working

Thanks for the info Terry. Out of interest what temperature do you keep the bottles at during carbonation and how do you keep it constant? I currently have mine in a insulated bag beside a radiator. Not ideal but warm.

    Carbonation not working

I've seen some reviews on Brewferm kits saying that it took 9 months for it to taste it's best. I think that would test my patience. The Youngs AAA kit that I'm drinking now is also lacking in carbonation and it was batch primed. I think that I might have to invest in some glass bottles and...

    Carbonation not working

I used 2 drops per bottle They are stored between 19 and 25 degrees The bottles seem quite firm which is why I tried one so I'll give them a shake and leave for longer.

    Carbonation not working

I have bottled a Brewferm Gold kit and after two weeks I opened a bottle to check and it's as flat as a pancake. Can I re prime the bottles with more sugar? I used carbonation drops at first and am using 750 ml plastic PET bottles.

    Brew tastes bitter

The thing is that I like a hoppy beer like Joker IPA and all the Brew Dog ones. The Coopers one just had a bitter after taste. I take it that if I add more sugar it will just mess things up.
