    Replacing a broken regulator

Hey folks, I got a brand-new Co2 cylinder yesterday and test-ran it by attaching a previously faulty regulator (bad idea), and while confirming that the cylinder is working perfectly, my regulator confirmed it’s buggered. I’ve never had to remove a regulator from a cylinder with loads of Co2...

NEIPA in a plastic King Keg

I’d give it a 7/10, in fact I’ve already consumed it all! I didn’t get any oxidation which is good, the colour remained perfect. Didn’t quite get the mouthfeel right, but I think that was mainly due to the water treatment being quite tricky during lockdown. I purged my barrel with co2 and...

    PSI levels in King Keg

Yeah it has all been a bit of an experiment to see what the very limits of these PBs are. I have a corny keg setup, but impossible to get any CO2 right now, so would use that in future for beers like this. I popped in 115g of priming sugar and then the CO2 bulb. I was just super paranoid about...

    PSI levels in King Keg

Thanks for your feedback guys. This morning I looked at it and the pressure had gone off the charts, as in potentially close to 17/18psi. I went into my shed to find my keg lid spanner thing, as I walked back in, the barrel let out an almighty screech, with CO2 flowing out of the valve area...

    PSI levels in King Keg

I drew off a few pints, it fell down to about 10psi, now it is climbing quickly again towards 15psi. Not sure if maybe I should crack the lid open and let some pressure out.

    PSI levels in King Keg

Yeah I've done a bit more of a dig around and 15psi seems to be the ballpark for maxing out. Hopefully the valve works correctly on this barrel. If it starts to head towards those upper levels, I think I'll draw some out manually.

    PSI levels in King Keg

Hey guys, I finally feel I've got my King Keg as airtight as can be. I have fitted a pressure gauge and it isn't showing any leaks, so feel very pleased. I barrelled a NEIPA yesterday, primed it and injected a CO2 bulb too just because I know this beer type needs a little extra love. My...

NEIPA in a plastic King Keg

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. I guess my mindset is whether ultimately the bottles or the King Kegs give a better opportunity of the beer not dying. Obviously the bottles are far bigger ball ache, so that's why I was leaning towards the KK. I've got a corny keg I could put it in, but...

NEIPA in a plastic King Keg

Hey guys, I'm going to be brewing a NEIPA next weekend. I've previously bottled one, and wasn't too keen on the outcome, think there was some oxidation issues. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on my idea of potentially barreling it in a plastic King Keg barrel...

    Pygmy 20 (non-K) beer dispenser

Hey all, Not sure if anyone has had any experience with a Lindr Beer Dispenser before, but I’m in the process of adding one of the Pygmy 20 non-K versions to my setup: https://goo.gl/hF7jpM My plan is to sync it up with my 20L corny keg and I’m going for the non-K version as I understand that...

WLP001 California Ale Yeast for ipa

That's good news! I've got one of these liquid pouches that you just slowly warm up and pitch - no solution making to be done. Ever had any experience with these pouches? Any tips? Thanks!

WLP001 California Ale Yeast for ipa

Hey folks, I am meant to be brewing an Amarillo IPA tomorrow, doing a malt extract version as all of my primary kit is packed up for moving house. I ordered a sachet of Safale 05 yeast for this brew and it has not shown up in my order. I have some White Labs California Ale Yeast in the...

    Greg Hughes recipes in Braumeister

Hey guys, I'm going to be taking the plunge and buying a 20L Braumeister in the summer. I have been brewing a lot of the recipes from Greg Hughes' Home Brew Beer book, though only the malt extract versions and in my 30L Buffalo boiler. My question is, can I brew the exact AG recipes in...

    Bottled water debate

Hey guys, I am doing two 23 litre batches at the weekend, it is worth mentioning they are just kit beers, so no full grain process. I've gone out and bought 50 litres of bottled water as the tap water around me isn't so great. I was wondering if there are any ingredients I should be...

Young's New World Saison Kit and Temperatures

How long have yours been conditioning/sitting around for? I'm still getting a slight hint of sour, but nothing like before. I'm wondering what the longest period of time is that I can leave them until they are optimum.

Young's New World Saison Kit and Temperatures

Hey guys, Little update on my saisons. I made two of these kits, customising the second one slightly. I did the first as the instructions demanded, though on my second batch (done a day later) I dry-hopped with 120g of citra instead of the New World hops. I did this because I'd had a...

    Recommended boiler

Hi guys, I'm looking to make the step up to a bit of malt extract brewing and then some all grain brewing and I want to invest in a decent boiler. I've looked around and feel tempted by a few electric boilers. I was hoping to get some advice on here about which route to take and if there...

Oxygen when using a turkey baster to collect samples

Cheers for all your tips guys! I have ordered a wine thief with the hope of avoiding any possible oxygen problems!

Oxygen when using a turkey baster to collect samples

Simply for hydro readings. My hope was that not enough oxygen would be getting introduced to make any sort of negative impact.
