How has this happened? Cloudy IPA

Thanks for that, had a listen through. Nothing immediately jumps out as a key element. Though perhaps the age of malt was a contributor - I used some crushed malt that was a few months old as part of the bill. Also a lot of dry hops, maybe too much for simple gelatin and cold to handle. I'm...

How has this happened? Cloudy IPA

Perhaps it is that simple. I'd have thought a cold crash and fining with gelatin would have dropped them out of suspension though, the gelatin trub was huge. Will see if it starts to fade over the next month.

How has this happened? Cloudy IPA

I kegged a DIPA a couple of weeks back that is generally west coast in style. It has come out very cloudy like a NEIPA though, even after fining with gelatin. The key recipe and process info is: Maris Otter, Golden Promise and a little Carapils (no oats or wheat). Protofloc added, Citra only...

Fruit Puree. End of Boil, or secondary?

Thanks for the replies. I've been heavily leaning towards adding the puree post-primary. Still curious as to what the differences might be though. Perhaps I'll split it out into two 10L batches and test the difference for myself.

Fruit Puree. End of Boil, or secondary?

I'm looking to make a passionfruit brew to act as a nice refresher for the summer months. I've got two recipes that are almost identical and both call for 950ml of mango puree and 475ml of passionfruit puree. One recipe says to add 5 minutes before the end of the boil, the other says to add...

    DIYDog 2017

The cynic in me thinks they might add odd efficiency values in there to add to the ambiguity :P Might have to give the recipe for Coffee and Cigarettes a go. I'm wanting to do an imperial stout for next Christmas, if I amp it up a little I reckon it could come out quite nicely, no barrels though :(

    What did you brew today?

Brewed a huge IPA last night, OG 1.104. Bit of a mistake as i didn't finish until 2am due to needing an extra 2L boil off and the Grainfather pump taking an age to transfer to the fermenter, but bubbling away nicely this morning. First time using MJ M42, good signs so far.

    tastes like home brew

Something I'll add is due to impatience AG brews can have a 'homebrew' taste simply because they haven't aged enough yet and aren't quite ready.

    Grainfather brew time...

Sounds like if I get some semblance of order in place for the cleaning I can look forward to sub 5 hours. Plan on brewing a stout on Saturday, hoping for an improvement :)

    Grainfather brew time...

Cheers, I think I may have just been very inefficient - wanting to watch the new toy strutting its stuff rather than cleaning the grain basket while the boil is on for example. I really like the idea of splitting wort, if only for being able to experiment further, but it certainly would allow...

    Grainfather brew time...

Long time lurker here, but new member. I've done a few small batch AG brews over the past year and decided I enjoyed it enough to take the plunge on a Grainfather. The wonderful bit of kit that arrived yesterday and I set about making a Jack Hammer clone, which largely speaking has seemed to...
