    Rapid Fermentation

Morning All. I started brewing a new world saison kit on Monday and the starting gravity was 1054. I've just taken a reading out of curiosity and it's already on 1014. I have my FV on a heat matt set around 30°c as per the instructions. Has anyone else brewed this kit and did it drop so...

    Help teabag hops.

I'm brewing an evildog kit all going well so far. I added my teabag hops on Tuesday evening. I did what it said on the instructions by soaking them in boiling water for ten minutes then adding them to my FV. I've just taken another reading I'm at 1010 but when sampling my brew it doesn't seem to...

    Evil dog

Thanks for the reply!! Yeah it's the evil dog IPA. I have two packets of hops one labelled simcoe 2047 and the other summit 1047. It's not clear on the instuctions which to add first. Do you just place the teabag straight in the FV or do you need to do something first with the teabag? Thanks

    Evil dog

Hello. Got this kit going yesterday and all looking well this morning. I've got my inkbird set to 21.5°C which is in the middle of the values stated in the instructions. It's say in the instructions about adding the hops just before fermentation is complete which is is fine but I've only...

    Star San

I'm using star San for the first time today. I am going to purchase a 5 litre bottle of water and add 10ml. I'm also going to purchase a spray bottle and fill that up as well. The last stuff I used to sterilise my kit nearly gave me an asthma attack which was called sodium metabisulphite. My...

    Temperature

Morning All. Just a quick one. Bought an Inkbird to regulate the temperature of my heatmatt. I currently have to probe strapped to the side of my FV Insulated by a sponge. The temperature on the Inkbird say 20.2°c but my room temperature stat say 18°c. I have my target temperature set...

    Carbonation

Thanks for the reply brian! I have glass bottles which are 500ml and I placed half a teaspoon in each bottle then filled and capped. I've done one of these kits before and everything was fine the only difference this time is that I used an heatmatt but didn't have it plugged into an inkbird so...

    Carbonation

Morning All. I bottled my brew around 2 weeks ago it's a youngs RIA kit. It's been in warm place for that time so I decided to stick one in fridge last night as a tester. Once chilled I cracked open the bottle and it only had a little fizz and went flat. Do you think I've got anything to...

    Dry Hopping

Thanks for the advice guys. I've found the East Kent Golding pellets on crossmyloof brewery and the prices are really good! Thanks! I'm going to order 100g of pellets and sprinkle them into the FV a couple of days before bottling. Do you think this will be ok? I really do like a hoppy beer.

    Dry Hopping

Hello All. My Wife purchased a Woodfordes Nelsons Revenge Beer Kit towards my birthday presents. I usually buy beer kits where you add the hops towards the end of fermenting but this kit doesn't come with any hops Can I purchase some hops separately and add these to this kit? If so which hops...

    Amateur Brewer

Thanks for the replies! I've looked at loads of suggestions for solving the temperature issue and the fridge looks the best! Roughly how much are you looking at to set it all up? I'm assuming that was the issue with my last brew not having the correct temperature. Could someone please post...

    Amateur Brewer

Hello All. Received a home brew kit as a Christmas present and love it. My first brew was very successful an American IPA adding hops halfway through fermentation. Bottled a new batch yesterday called Muntons Midas touch, this one wasn't as lively as my first brew. The starting gravity was...
