Good question and one I too am curious over this. I generally add the 1.2kg because a) it’s cheaper and b) the pack advises adding 1.2kg so don’t see why you would a) want to pay more for the same product and b) end up throwing away .3kg of the product! Thats enough a) and b) from me!

Thats really interesting Victor as I spend ages filling and shaking and standing bottles in sanatiser before bottling. It always adds an hour on the bottling process. If I can just load the dishwasher, I can clean the bottles before cracking on with the priming into a second bottling FV...

Victor..... interesting you put the bottles through the dishwasher. Have you found this has any effect on the brew? Also do you sanitise them before filling?

Yeah I tried it before bottling from the sample tube and it tasted fine. There wasnt anything to cause concern in the taste and you could see how it would, after conditioning, be a euro lager in taste. I think its just that this is my first steps into brewing lager and coming from brewing IPAs...

Yeah it’s a malt extract kit. All the ones I have done over the last few years have all fallen to anywhere between 1005 to 1010 and as this is the first lager one it does seem strange as it’s going to be about 2.9% ABV.

I thought that they needed a few months to develop the flavours?i have been leaving kegs a couple of months to get the best from my brews. should I be diving in after 4 weeks and drinking ?
