    Making a boiler.

Thanks again everyone. The reason I can't use a stock-pot is that my good Lady doesn't like the smell of brewing hops/liquor, going through the house. (Which is unavoidable if I have to use the gas rings). Thus I brew outside or in the shed. This means either an electric thermostatically...

That's a shame indeed. I think some of these developers must be allergic to grass! Cheers Eddie. John :thumb:

    Making a boiler.

Thanks for the replies folks. I am still feeling my way, but using a kettle element looks a bit too advanced for me. For one thing I can't solder! And there might be issues with safety, so I am going to do some heavy reading. Thanks again for the help. regards John :thumb:

    Making a boiler.

Hi folks, I saw a video on YouTube posted by 'Jimmy the brewer'. It's apparent he made his own boiler from a suitable plastic bucket. I fancy having a go at that myself, rather than buying a thermostatically controlled boiler ready made. Does anyone have any idea of the type of plastic...

    It's me from Great Barr

Hi again folks. Thanks for the great welcome. And yes, the shop I mention is the Hamstead Home brew shop. Baggy: I am familiar enough with Sandwell of course, but I live in Great Barr, near the Cat & Fiddle pub. So Hi neighbour! Springer: I suppose a lot has changed. Youtube tells me so at...

    Old Ale

Rob, Interesting? It is that! Usually it's so strong that it is almost a wine, and with virtually no head. It's often served as a 'Grandmother' i.e.. Old 'n mild. But I like it with a double rum, when it's called 'Dragon's Blood'. Although then 'er 'as an 'ead on er in the morning...

    It's me from Great Barr

Hi Folks, I thought I should introduce myself. I am a pensioner who has realised beer is getting to be an expensive luxury, considering I drink it mainly because I like it, and because I like social interaction. Well those are my excuses. It's a nice way of meeting all sorts of people . The...

    Complete novice Wherry

Hi there Regarding temperature... If you are using your insulated shed for winter brewing, you can make a very effective heater from any light bulb that produces heat. (Some low energy bulbs do get quite hot.) Find an old paraffin stove. Take out the fuel container and the wick and...
