    iv just put a batch of their raspberry lime cider kit into the barrel mine levelled out at 998 , i wouldn't worry if your reading is slightly high / low it could be from any fruit mush left in the juice if its a bit high

    i used that cider except mine came from B&M so was probably half the price :whistle: , i just stuffed mine in my airing cupboard for a week until it had a nice cake at the bottom then fired it in the fridge for a couple of days till i had the remaining ingredients i also added 3-4 tablespoons...

    thanks for that ,im going to give it a go i like the spicy flavour from cinnamon nutmeg and cloves , i brewed a batch of tc using a similar recipe and back sweetened with honey that was really nice if you like that kind of thing

    yeh i was a bit stunned by it i used the last iunch of cider along with sediment from two pint size bottles , its now been in a 5l water bottle made upto about 4.5 l for a week and its still going pretty strong not checked sg yet

    im doing the exact same , didnt follow any recipes just shoved the sediment in a dj with 1l of aj and a teaspoon of nutrient left it for a week , then shoved another 3l and 400g of sugar in yesterday , going strong at the moment , looks good , planning to campden it at around 1.010 then rack...

    on a similar note i didnt have a press but wanted a go so i used a couple of planks of wood and some G clamps to press the apples , had to use a bit of pipe to tighten them but it did the trick and you can pick clamps and a couple of chunks of wood up quite cheap

    awesome i actually have two bottles of old rosie in at the moment , i intend to make a honey and apple cider using this method , is there a limit to the percentage alcohol the yeast will produce and is adding yeast nutrient a good idea ?

    do i have to separate all solids from liquids when making strawberry wine from frozen strawberries, is there any reason why i cant blend my strawberries , mix with water and bring them to the boil to kill bacteria , then shove this in my dj with relevant sugar , yeast nutrient e.t.c ?
