    Faversham Hop Festival

It's this weekend, for those of you in Kent. Lots of music, dance and, of course, beer. If you make it, come and say hello. I'm the one in white shirt, red sash, top hat and black face, playing my squeeze box with The Seven Champions Molly Dancers.

Where to get solid cardboard boxes

I'm fed up with a house full of 24-ish different shaped, coloured, quality boxes for storing my beer and empty bottles. SWMBO has suggested (demanded!) that I tidy it all up. Ideally I'd like nice, stackable plastic or wooden crates but I have better things to spend my money on (like beer, for...

    The New Corny?

I was looking at http://www.breweryplastics.biz and saw that they produce a 20litre keg. (and a 15L and a 10L). Specific link; http://www.breweryplastics.biz/index.php/products/keg-20-litre-2/ Given that Cornelius kegs are sometimes in short supply and that "standard" fittings as used in all...

    Haze developing after 2-3 weeks.

Hi guys. I'm now in to my 7th AG brews, mostly PAs and IPAs. I bottle and leave them in my dining room to clear. After about a week or so they are perfectly shiny and definitely pass the feck test. But a week or two later they seem to develop a very slight haze. I could understand it if: 1 -...

    Save the Hobbit, Southampton

Sorry if it's in the wrong place but there's a little pub in Southampton called The Hobbit and it's under threat to rebrand by some Hollywood suits who think they "own" the name. If you would, go to the Facebook page and like or register on the petition to tell them to Beggar off. (or both)...

    My First AG brew

Well, after much faffing and discovering that I don't have enough space for 3 vessels, I have Heath-Robinsoned" my setup so I'm using my boiler as my HLT. My brew kit has a capacity of 10 gallons, but I decided to play safe and do a 5 gallon brew to test it out. Warmed up my mash tun, added...

    My last brewday of 2011

This is my house standard, easy to make and easy to drink: Just a standard Coopers IPA kit plus; I boil up half a gallon of water, chuck in an ounce of whatever additional flavouring hops (Amarillo today) for 10 minutes. Then i mix in a kilo of light DME and use this hot liquid to dissolve the...

    Wassail from Kent

Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a 58-year-old homebrewer from near Maidstone in Kent (home of the world's oldest brewery and one of the newest). I've been hanging out on a couple of the US based forums for a year or so and am pleased to find one based in the UK (their recipes and measurements are...
