    cantina pinot grigio

My experience of Cantina Pinot Grigio is not the same. I find it a highly-scented acid. Nail polish remover, acetone, is the prominent characteristic. Of course it may be my bad brewing skills. Strangely, the more expensive pingo is very tasty (Selection).

    wine lake

I've just started planting. I have been daft and just gone straight to my favourite wine, but have 90% of garden yet to develop, so it's all an experiment. I've 4 Pinot Noir, one 3 yr old, 1 2 yr old and two 1 yr old. They are all meant to have a slightly decorative value, so I'm not...

    Buying Wine grapes

Wey-hey! For a daft reason associated with the object to be discovered between keyboard and chair, I've not been able to get on the forum other than through my moby. Good news for world, now all mended. Making wine from grapes: first go was this time last year. Grapes a chum got me cost about...

I have bought a bag of 19mm grommets somewhere online, probably eBay. I drill a hole in lids to fizzy water bottles and always keep leftovers going to top up. Once you have a lid with an airlock you hang on to that and chuck the bottle. 5L water bottles, we call demijohns.

    Carbon Neutral Homebrewing?

I did once work out the carbon offset involved in re-using a beer bottle 4 times a year for 10 years instead of making 39 of them and shipping them here from China. All I can remember is you should be proud of saving the planet, virtually single handed.

Is all this sterilising necessary? Well the bottles at least

Here's why: take 2 clean glasses from cupboard, fill both with beer. Drink one. Put cling film over the other, put back in cupboard for 6 weeks. Take out and smell before pouring away. Spoilage organisms in small quantities take time to colonise. Not all will become viable. Some need air...

    Silly question about corks

Not normal. Advice I have followed is leave bottles upright for 3 days. If I were you, I'd explore further, need more experienced view than mine before deciding if to recork
