Hi guys, I've recently had a spell of ill health and am having difficulty getting through it and my problem is i have 2 fv's on the go one bitter and one brown ale and at present there is no way i can lift them out of the bedroom to keg them, i can't even raise them up to do the kegging in situ...

Very first brew, flat as a pancake.

I don't know if it's changed at all since i used them but i remember thinking the carbonation drops being australian are designed for 375ml bottles as are used in oz, so when i used 500 ml bottles over here i used 2 drops per bottle rather than 1. Some were over carbonated but on the whole they...

    settle an argument for me.

Andy hamilton says that nettle wine should be drunk young and does not benefit from laying down, however other things i'm reading say that you should rack at 6 mths and again at 8 mths and leave for at least a year. With all the young nettles around at the moment i'm anxious to get going so...

I think my pinot noir is dead.

HI guys, a while back i bottled a batch of beaverdale pinot noir which at bottling was probably one of the nicest wines i've ever made. Anyways this weekend i was looking forward to cracking a bottle open but as soon as i stuck the corkscrew in the cork turned to dust (bloody wilkos cheap ****)...

Hi guys, basically i made a beaverdale red kit and a wilkos red and white kits last june/july put them in the shed and forgot about them on several occasions since them i've thought about bottling them but i'm a lazy sh*te and kept finding excuses to do something else. So they're still on the...

    Booze by John Wright

Funnily enough it was one of the first things i ever made! Despite the fact that i had to release the pressure every couple of hours and the end result came out flat it was actually a very tasty drink lol.

Cheap & Simple Tropical Punch - A BBQ MUST

Well i finally got round to bottling this tonight and after drinking the trial jar i have to say i'm very impressed it's kind of a medium apple wine rather than any kind of cider and drinking it flat it's very good but i've split the batch to carbonate some and see what it's like. I will...

Where Can You Buy Anise Seed?

You could just use more star anise, many producers use it instead of anise as it's cheaper I believe 1 crushed star anise is equal to half a teaspoon of anise seed.

just bottled my first brew and?

Sounds about right to me mate leave it as long as your able too and it will get better. You're probably better to leave it in the warm for at least a week though at at least the same temp as you fermented at.

Cheap & Simple Tropical Punch - A BBQ MUST

I plan on putting mine in 2ltr pet's (old lemonade bottles) but i suppose it depends if you want it fizzy or not obviously if you prime it for fizzy then it will have to go in bottles that are deigned to be used under pressure.

Cheap & Simple Tropical Punch - A BBQ MUST

Just out of interest has anyone tried doing something like this with a fizzy soft drink? I'm thinking specifically of a ginger beer, a lot of folks on here make there own with varying success and i wondered if i take a shop bought one that i like simmer it up to de fizz and knock off any...

    Just ordered my DE razor

I'm astounded by the name safety razor because it gives the impression that you can use them without fear of cutting yourself where as I believe that straight edge blades were actually safer because you tend to have more respect for them. As a chef for over twenty years I truly appreciate a...

    Just ordered my DE razor

It still astounds me that they call them 'safety' razors i used a mach 3 for years and it was only because my brother switched to DE razors and kept extolling their virtue every time i saw him that i decided to give it a go. About 6 months in and i still can't get a shave as close as the mach 3...

Cheap & Simple Tropical Punch - A BBQ MUST

When you did it was it a really slow starter? It's two days now and barely a bubble, is it possible I didn't heat the cordial enough to get rid of any preservatives? If that's the case can I do anything about it?

Cheap & Simple Tropical Punch - A BBQ MUST

Well I started out to make a turbo cider but when i looked at the apple juice I'd bought it was the 50% stuff rather than the 100% so I thought right I'll just drink it and get some more later... Then i went in the cupboard and spotted a bottle of apple flavour Robinson's and thought umm I seem...
