    Old wives tales

    Did anyone see the program on channel 4 last night? A woman was showing a family how to make Blackberry Vodka. When she had finished she said that adding the sugar & water will "double the strength", &, "it will get stronger the longer you leave it". Now everyone will know :lol:

    Windsor Yeast

    I'm about to mix a "Samson's Bah Humbug Christmas stout" Kit, it's made by Ritchie's. I have a Danstar Windsor yeast that I've used before in an Oatmeal stout, (No, not the exact same yeast, another sachet) :lol: Would it be better to use that than the yeast they have supplied??

    Wine too strong??

    I have to ask as I've not done this before. Just finished fermenting an "Easy White" wine, came out at 13.8%. I, (thats code for SWMBO) would like it a little weaker. Can I just dilute it to the gravity I want with bottled, still water?

    How late can I top-up my WOW

    I'm 7 days into 2 gallons of WOW. For reasons beyond my control I didn't top-up after 3 days. They are approx 14% & 14.4% ABV, & still (slowly) fermenting. Is it too late to bring it down with boiled water? :pray:

    When I made Sloe Gin last year all I did was prick the sloes before soaking. In a recipe for Damson Gin/Vodka it says to take out the stones. Is this right, are the damson stones in any way bad for the spirit?? :?
