    Citra Summer Ale BIAB

Hi all I'd like to get a nice light but hoppy summer ale going this weekend ... now that the summer's over  How does this look for a BIAB no-chill recipe? BrewMate exported the percentages so I've manually added the quantities for a 23L brew length - Citra Summer Ale (English...

    Wilko's Dark Velvet Stout

Great, thanks for that Joey. I found another of your posts with details on yesterday, and I ended up doing the following last night (almost exactly the same as yours) .... 1 can Wilko Stout 227g (half a tin) black treacle 200g cocoa powder 500g (1 bag) medium DME 500g (half a bag)...

    Wilko's Dark Velvet Stout

Hi Joey Could you please confirm how much cocoa, treacle, DME and sugar you used? I'm hoping to get a Wilko Stout going soon, and adding cocoa and treacle sounds great!

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

I just had a pint of this tonight, and I think it tastes great. Started the kit on 14 Jan, in primary for 12 days, then racked into secondary for another 9 days, then bottled with 110g priming sugar in the full 23L. It's been a mere 9 days in the bottle and it tastes great - really hoppy and...

    50w fish tank heater

Can anyone suggest which is better in a fermenting fridge - the FV in a water bath with an aquarium heater in the water bath, or a tubular heater (eg http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Heating ... 168/p32265)? I have an under-counter freezer that I'm intending to convert for fermenting, and I...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

I thought I'd add my notes on this in case it helps anyone ... I brewed a Ruby kit which I started on 14 Jan (23 days ago). I mixed it a little short at 21L instead of 23L, OG was 1042. After 5 days fermentation (at 21C, probably a little too warm) had slowed significantly and SG was down to...

    My fermentation fridge build

I wouldn't worry too much about delivery times from HK - I ordered my STC1000 from HK and it arrived within about a week. Now all I need is a fridge, and a tube heater, and some time to stick it all together, and somewhere to put it :-) Apart from that I'm right on track!

    Coopers Ginger Beer Review

It did sound like you were going a little crazy with the sugar! Good luck, and please let us all know how it tastes ... even if it is a disaster! :D

    Coopers Ginger Beer Review

Hi Markdon, did you bottle this a couple of weeks ago, how's it tasting now?

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Fantastic, that's just the sort of info I was hoping for. Is there a problem with oxygen affecting the beer - after all even with minimal splashing the beer's being moved between vessels a few times and if it's in the cold to clear then it won't be making a whole lot of CO2 to protect itself...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Hi Markdon When you suggest crash cooling, would you add the priming solution and then drop the temperature, or keep it cool for a while and then batch prime and bottle? If I batch prime and then crash cool, I can that it will help the beer to clear, but will there be sufficient yeast left in...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

Hi all I started an Evil Dog 8 days ago and it's still fermenting nicely, although I'm only on my third brew (Black Rock Whispering Wheat first, which tastes pretty poor at the mo, and just about to bottle a St Peter's Ruby Red which tastes much better already) so I really don't know what I'm...
