I use shredded chipotle a lot in cooking and thought I'd add some to a pale ale brew yesterday.
(Chipotle is a smoked & dried jalapeno chilli pepper)
Nothing to overpower it, just enough to give a real mellow background note. Enough s you know it's there but no more.
The wort tasted amazing - a very subtle smokiness to it and then a slight heat tingle in the throat a minute or two later.

I added 7g to s 20L batch 5 mins before the end of the boil along with 5g of crushed grains of paradise.

Hope so - either that or I have just ruined a perfectly decent american pale ale!!! :D
 
I love chillies, I grow an abundance every year and I'd love to use them in an all grain recipe at some point. The one chilli beer I tried I didn't really like, so I need to make it to my tastes.

Hope it turns out well.
 
I've read about them being used in porters and smoked porters.
I'm trying to keep it quite light and fragrant - we'll see!!
