Do glass bottles weaken over time?

There used to be an old myth that as glass is a liquid that old windows from 1800 - 1900s are thicker at the bottom as the glass runs however this has more to do with their inability to make uniform plate glass later invented by Pilkingtons ( I think).
Otherwise glass is fairly chemically stable if somewhat brittle.
Not even the strong alcohol of US IPAs can weaken it!

The myth about the windows is partially true. It would if left long enough, become thicker at the bottom than at the top, but it would take so long for that to happen that the house would have collapsed to rubble long before it happened.
