The Stones I remember from the 1980s was brewery conditioned and according to the wiki it had Target and CTZ hops. It certainly had a pleasant taste that was different from most other bitters around at the time.

Some time ago I knocked up a potential 20l recipe in Beersmith that I've been meaning to try. Something like this:

3.56kg Pale Malt (97%)
0.11kg Crystal 40L (3%)
15g Target 9.50% AA, 60 mins, 19.3 IBU
20g CTZ 14.3% AA, 10 mins, 14 IBU
WLP037 Yorkshire Square Ale Yeast

OG: 1.041
FG: 1.012
33.3 IBU
3.8% ABV
BH Efficiency: 70%

Hi mate, sorry..I took myself out of the home brew world after a heart attack, thinking about starting again I hope you found your answers
Glad to see you're back in for condition to pick up your mash pale again. I guess many of your old mates have drifted away in the intervening time and must of us are newbies like me. Welcome back anyway.
What are you planning?
