Before I do my Muntons Smugglers in the next week or so, I would like to pose this question about water preferences.

Are there any obvious advantages to using bottled water rather than tap water for your beer?. I am aware of the differences in water quality (hard/soft) depending on different areas.

Thanks, Jon.

It rather depends on the taste of your water. If it tastes a bit like bottled water, use it. If it's like mine and resembles the local municipal pool, then you can either pop a crushed campden tablet in to neutralise the chlorine, or use bottled water. I've had good results using both my tap water filtered and campden'd and using bottled.

The hardness/softness only really comes into it when you are mashing grain, as it affects the extraction rates. Kit wise, it doesn't make *that* much difference.
