sweet newkie brown...

here we are only 8/9 hrs ...
after i made it...
and its going blurp blurp blurp already ... .
and moved all the vodka to the right hand side ...

well its been 10 days in the first fv ...
it is still bubbling all be it only about once or twice a hr..

should i still wait till it stops completly ...
or transfer it to the second fv today as planned...

your advice please...

Transfer as planned bud. That's fine, it'll have plenty time to finish off if it's not quite done, also racking will bring the yeast out of suspension and encourage them to clean up :)

After 4 days take a reading, then the next day and then the next. If all 3 agree then stick it somewhere cool for a few days, to encourage the solids to fall and the beer to clear as much as it can, and get ready for bottling :)

ok today is not going well... .

to start with i snapped the cup off of the bottom of my syphon ...
i dropped it then i stood on it ...
great start not...

ok so i cut the end off and sanitised it...
i clipped it in my fv and started to syphon my newkie brown ...
into the second fv...
all was going well until i thought i heard someone at the door...
as im waitting for a parsel i thought id beter go to the window to see who it is ...

it was a window salesman ...
but on my way back to sit by my fvs..i went ass over tit..
and nearly hit the lot on the floor...
it was a close thing i can tell you ...
it had stopped syphoning so i went to put it back in ...

and looked where it had to be ...

and all the sediment had swamped the rest of the brew...

so i thought feck this im calling it a day ...
so i ended up with just under 20ltrs...

peed right off ... .

the rest whent down the drain.. :nono: .
i no i should have just put the lid on and waited for it to settle ...
then 2moro...
i could have added it back to the brew...

but it was all i could do to stop myself chucking it out the window .. :evil: .

and i still havent got my parsel....
so i cant got out to buy a new syphon .. :x .

as i dont want to miss the dilivery ...

but it was nearly my fishing trip all over again .. .
needless to say i dont fish anymore.. .

I read that u put vodka in the airlock. How come? I've never heard this before.

as for the vodka...

i saw it on utube about using it...

i have to say if i had to buy it ...
i wouldnt use it lol..

it was a part bottle that some one left here and said they didnt wont it ..
so thats why i use it ...

i was just wondering how many grams of brewing sugar do i need to batch prime for bottling my sweet newkie brown...
there is only 20 ltrs now as i waisted the other 3 ltrs... ...

its says 85g of sugar for a pressure barrel...
but thats at 23ltrs....

so if i do it in mine as its short should i use 75g...
or would you say bottle it .. :? .

newky is quite fizzy ain't it , i would of thought around 120/140g for a 23L so i make that 105/120g so bottles it is

I popped this into the FV last night, and this morning it was bubbling away like a right gooden with a thoroughly bulging bucket.

Thoroughly looking forward to it, going to be bottling it all as I have an IPA conditioning in my keg. I brewed it slightly shorter to 20l as I read a few reviews stating they found it a little thin, so hopefully this will give it a bit more body. :)

mine didnt go mad in the fv ....
but it did bubble alot and as its by the side of my bed ...

if i cant sleep i shut my eyes and count the bubbles ...
and that helps to send me off.. :thumb: .

i think you right about brewing it short as iv read the same ...

mines short now ...
but not in the good way ...

as i said i waisted 3ltrs... .

all this brewing is making me thirsty ...
