Ok .. this probably a stupid question but I have to ask it... :whistle:

Everyone's brewday pics (with the exception of mine) start with a pic of the dry grain bill, all nicely segmented in an fv looking like some wonderful pie chart.

Is there a reason for this (other than the artistic)? I just empty my grain into the tun and hit it with the strike water.
 
Nope it's mainly artistic :grin:
Depending on the malts and grits used I will some times put the troublesome ones at the top of the mash, flaked maize and flaked rice can block my false bottom, so I will stir these in last leaving them towards the top of the mash :)

Thanks TS, that makes perfect sense... I looked at my grain - casually tossed into the tun and wondered why it couldn't shape up a bit!

i normally weigh mine out the night before so it tends to get weighed into a spare FV or simular - just for the pic it looks good :lol:

Ok .. right then... I now have an idea for my next brew next weekend!
