After reading the post from Mr Spin Oven mashing..

It got the old gray noggin thinking....now don't laugh.. ...what if I used a slow cooker...we have 2 of them, one is on/off and that's it..

but t'other one as a thermostat...I'm wondering if it's set at low :wha:
I think an investigation with a temp probe to see how it holds the heat is wanted... :?

Not a bad idea if you could regulate the temp enough.

Might be useful for a glucan rest in a oatmeal stout. I have no cooking facilities where I brew so i cannot use a stove and relie on just doing a mini mash for my glucan rest, but have no way of heating it back up to 66c.

I'm going to have a go this Sat....I think Fri night I'll fill the large one we have, and lay the probe inside to see what happens on a low setting..it may need a tweek on/off to hold a set temp.. or maybe a towel around it...but that's no hardship.

I intend to mini-mash a Pelforth clone recipe I've been playing with for weeks..

Let us know how you get on, I might invest in one if it works. :thumb: :thumb:

Oh then I could Steak and Ale casserole on brew days (if I wasn't doing a mini mash). :hmm: :hmm:
