Looking to do my first AG stout.

Was looking at the Greg Hughes coffee stout and vanilla and bourbon stout.

I was wondering if I could swap the vanilla and bourbon out of that recipe and add in coffee instead (not thrilled with the idea of a coffee stout with a citrus twist as described). Guessing a browse of coffee stouts on beersmith is on my future.

Don't see any reason why not. The GH book carries a lot of diverse ideas in the recipes and surely the point of it is to understand the aims of each one and use the numerics to inform some sort of experimentation?

Not sure how much light citrus is going to come through, myself, on the quoted recipe anyway.

So, to answer the question - yes go with that. It will make a good beer.
