Hi folks,

How, and how often do you guys clean your corny taps and serving line?
I am not very happy with my regimen, but can't seem to come up with a convenient solution.

At the moment I leave the tap connected to the corny and I discard the first 1/4 pint or so when I start pulling ale.
I remove it every 10-14 days and soak the whole thing in cleaner and then rinse.

Ideally, I'd like to remove the tap at the end of each session and flush it through with water and then with beer line cleaner every 10 days or so.
Is there some simple arrangement that can allow me to do this?

Help and suggestions appreciated as always.

ATB :D

You can get carbonater caps which fit a PET Bottle and a grey disconnect (Hop and Grape and Norm Sell them, they are not cheap) swap the disconnects fill a pet bottle with cleaser and push it through by squeezing the bottle.

I beileve it is possible to make the carbonater cap fit a Black disconnect by sanding down the top of the cap until it is of an appropriate diameter to take a black disconnect.

Alternatively buy another corny that you keep full of cleanser and just push that through

Markp, that's exactly what I used to do. It's not perfect, but it works. I was too cheap to shell out on the carbonator cap.

Now I've got a beer engine, I just clean the lines once a week with a spare cornie. It's not a "real" beer engine though, but it works much better with a cornie than the real ones.

Hells bells!, that is outrageous for a plakky cap
At £18.45 + P&P, I think I'll have a spare corny.

Crikey me

Edit: thanks for your comments you two :thumb:

I'm a lot lazier than you guys, when I have beer on tap. I use the enodis taps and they start to stick and drip when gunking up. I usually get 2 or 3 cornies through a tap before I'm forced to change/clean it.

Have to agree with Vossy, I'm bone idle when it comes to cleaning the tap and lines and mine run through a chiller too. Takes some VWP to get them running clear when I do decide to sort it all out but can't say I've noticed any off-tastes with my lazy regime. :)

Only when I can be arsed...... I use two spare cornies one with beer line cleaner which I pull through under pressure with a 10 minute soak. then pull 3 L of clean water through and voila.... :drink:

I clean mine whenever i clean a cornie, I just half fill the cornie with Cleaner and blast it trough my pipes and taps as the cornie is having a nice long soak. I must admit though I can go for a good month inbetween clean's :? Still I've never had a bad taste or a bad gut

My regime is similar to andysmok, I connect my cornies to the taps in the keggerator and they stay on 'til the keg is empty. The keg gets cleaned and sanitised and the cleaner and sanitiser get pushed through the line and tap, no problems so far

we are supposed to clean beer lines?

only kidding. I am lazy with it though and only clean at each cornie change
