I need to make a hop bag and i'm thinking of using some net curtain material i have it is either nylon or polyester. Will this be ok or could it taint the beer? Most people seem to use muslin.

Just to follow up on my own question. i have used some nylon net curtain material for a hop bag a few times now. As far as I know it didn't do any thing bad to my brews but my beers are far from perfect yet and it could well be that the nylon has a subtle flavour that would show up in an otherwise clean beer.

I tend to use unbleached muslin for hop bags, not because nylon may impart flavours, but because it may have been treated with other chemicals during the material's cleaning or colouring process that won't do too much good to your beer when added to a long boil.
