Hi,

Am moving to 3 vessel from BIAB and want to have another go at a Pilsner Lager.

I have got my water report and ordered some Gypsum and CRS to treat my slightly hard water.

Using the water treatment calculator here: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/water.php

My question is around the Total water and the mash water fields.

If I am using 15 litres in the mash, then 23 litres for batch sparge, I take it I enter total water as 38 litres and mash water as 15 litres ?

Don't want to cock that bit up and end up with gypsum and CRS additions out of whack

Cool thanks Shepp.

Do you add CRS to your water much before brewing ? think it takes a couple of minutes to work ?

Yes Spapro, I have no concerns with using CRS. I follow the recommended dose on the calculator, I wear latex gloves and glasses when handling it, as it quite strong acid.
I put all my water into a large FV, treat it with campden, then CRS and go from there with other additions.
