Made first brew yesterday i sprinkled the yeast on the top of liquid and stired it in,should i have done that if not what will or will not happen

was it just normal kit yeast? you can do either, im a stirrer inner, just make sure you aerate your wort very well then add yeast and stir in.

if its a dried yeast just sprinkle on top, ale yeasts are top fermenting so leaving it be is fine , no harm done by mixing it though

Die hard rehydrator myself. I always add the yeast, half pint of tepid water and a spoonful of sugar to a bottle the night before a brewday (shake then loosen lid).

Next day another shake then straight into the wort.

I used to just sprinkle on top but now i've started to rehydrate my yeast i find that the fermentation usually starts off alot quicker

I always rehydrate Nottingham and any other dried yeasts, I normally use 2pkts to nibble away at 59 litre brew with no issues! :thumb:

Before the price hikes I would've used 3pkts.
