i've just taken my first step in to AG brewing and thought i'd share a pic or two of my cooler box mash tun i've been building. just looking for feedback generally. eventually i want to build a HLT and/or Boile, so will be using the site lots for inspiration and help, so expect questions and cries for help in the near future.

i do have a small leak at the front, which i'm going to attempt to fix with PTFE tape.

i filled it with water to see how it drains, which is fine but it retains about 1.5 - 2 pints. is that average or good it be better?

cheers

I dont have much experience or expertise, but if you turn the pipe so the holes were pointing down rather than up, it would be a better filter, further more it would have a suction effect reducing losses

looking good

It all depends on the position of the holes, size of the box etc etc. I'd be quite happy with 1.5 - 2 pint dead space :thumb:
