OK so after smarting from not getting the juice I wanted to make a TC, I bought some other slightly random stuff to make a wow with....

6L Morrisons Grape, Apple & raspberry (40% wgj/10% rgj/40% apple/10% raspberry)
1L strong roiboos tea (5bag)
5tsp pectolase
4kg tate & lyle

How
1L of juice in FV
Sugar in
Kettlefull of boiling water in
Stir well to dissolve sugar
Rest of juice in
Tea in (having stewed for 10 mins)
Pectolase (dissolved in cup of warm water) in
Top up with cold tap water to 25L
Temp 24 degrees
OG 1.085
Abv at 0.990 = 12.45%

Hmm, I noticed that effect with the two I've currently got fermenting. Does it drop to the bottom eventually? The apple, mango and white grape looks like it has got half a brain floating on top of it :D

Yer it will settle to the bottom eventually, but I'll probably lose a couple of inches of volume thanks to that 😠

Hey guys

Just signed up with this forum as I have the same issue as OP.

I used 4L of the same peach and grape Don Simon juice and had a huge krausen with cider yeast. Fermenting complete after a week, so added wine finings today - 5hr later got a hell of a lot sat at bottom! What a waste. Guessing the Don Simon to blame in both our brews.

Cheers
Rob

PS brewing since Xmas so still learning! :)

Think I'd be tempted to pour that out into a clean & sanitised container through a muslin lined colander or sieve to get the worst of the pulp out without loosing too much of the liquid. The let it settle for a few days, rack into another demijohn, stabilize and add finings.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately Ive already racked it off but will bear that in mind if I see that again (just ordered some muslin from eBay :) )

cheers

I'm trying to summon up the enthusiasm to rack/clear mine... I hate pulpy ones 😕

Same for me folks, but it's still bubbling every 2 seconds and the pulp bomb is gradually reducing in size. I think I will go with the strain first method to not lose too much liquid.
I'll wait until it starts to slow down though. It's pretending to be a lava lamp at the moment.
Still optimistic.

OK so racked it tonight, was getting bored waiting for the cheese to drop...

Probably lost a good 3-4 litres 😕

Feel your pain mate - I bottled my Merry Berry cider tonight and was a bottle short of what it should have filled ! Which from a little 5l batch is a lot [emoji24]

That is a lot of sediment from juice, all clumped together. Had about an inch in my pom' & grape loose float like the one in Rob C's second picture dj.

Rather surprisingly, this one cleared perfectly after just 24 hrs....

Great pics as usual.

Did you stabliise it or just leave without ?
Cheer matey

I did stabilise as it happens and probably will carry on doing so... the roiboos tea has been jettisoned (picking up an off taste from it), and ain't allergic to Ksorb 😀 so all good !
